The Voice Phl grand finalist Kokoi Baldo dies

Former The Voice Philippines four-chair turner Kokoi Baldo passed away on Friday, December 8. 

The late Reggae singer’s wife and manager Sam announced the sad news on his official Facebook page. 

“It is with a heavy heart to inform the public, especially the fans, that Kokoi Baldo has passed away earlier this morning.

“We kindly ask for privacy during this hard time in respect to his family and friends.

“He will be missed, loved and forever in our hearts,” read the official statement. 

While no cause of death was disclosed, Sam’s subsequent update asked the public to take down post’s relating to Koko’s apparent vehicular accident. 

His The Voice blind audition piece, One Day, got a four-chair turn from the judges and has amassed 73 million views on Youtube to date.

“I am humbly asking everyone to take down the posts pertaining to my husband, Kokoi Baldo’s accident scene as it is already causing distress to our entire family,” wrote Sam. 

She added, “If you see any posts of the said accident, please ask the owner of the post to delete.”

Kokoi was supposed to perform in Baybay, Leyte. 

He was a grand finalist in the Season 2 of The Voice Philippines in 2015 and the grand champion in Your Moment along with the Juan Gapang band in 2020.
