Juan Karlos Labajo’s song Ere enters Spotify global Top 100

OPM singer-songwriter Juan Karlos Labajo made history with his latest single Ere becoming the first Filipino song to enter Spotify’s global chart.

According to a post by Chart Data on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Ere debuted at the No. 177 spot with 1.21 million streams.

“Ere” also broke the all-time record for the biggest single day stream on Spotify Philippines with 1.39  million streams, surpassing Taylor Swift’s “Mine (Taylor’s Version).

In an update on Tuesday, “Ere” climbed up even higher, landing at No. 87 with 1.45 million streams.

Juan Karlos, also known as JK, first released Ere in August, and is part of his Sad Songs and Bullsh*ts Part 1 album launched last September.

“This album originally started out as a compilation of all the love songs that I made for someone whom I gave so much of myself to,” JK described his album in an Instagram post.

He added, “Eventually, things didn’t turn out the way I hoped for. The songs started to not make any sense. All the songs for love turned into songs for sadness.”

The 22-year-old singer also performed the song inspired from a breakup on the mystery-thriller series Senior High where he stars as Gino.
