SM Entertainment to take legal action vs. fan who broke into NCT Jaehyun’s hotel room

The NCT fandom was enraged after a foreign fan took and shared private photos allegedly taken inside the hotel room of K-pop boy group NCT’s Jaehyun.

On Monday, Aug. 21, online user @sunkissedviews posted videos on her X account said to have been taken last year inside the hotel room occupied by Jaehyun while he was on tour with other NCT 127 members in the US.

The clips revealed Jaehyun’s private quarters along with his stage outfits and personal belongings. NCTizens (fans of NCT) noticed that the videos bore striking similarities with the backdrop of the live streams conducted by the NCT members at the time.

Eagle-eyed NCTizens have also looked into the fan’s previous encounters with the group and regarded them as pieces of evidence alluding to her stalking activities.

According to a report by K-entertainment news outlet Soompi, the fan reportedly stole Jaehyun’s hotel room key card and illegally entered his room while it was unoccupied.

On Tuesday, Aug. 22, NCT’s talent agency, SM Entertainment, officially announced that they will be taking legal action against the sasaeng fan of Jaehyun. Saesang is a Korean term that refers to fans who obsessively invade or violate Korean idols’ private lives.

“The leaked video is an illegal act that severely violates the artist’s privacy. We are collecting evidence against the initial uploader and all those who distribute the video,” Soompi quoted the agency’s official statement.

They continued, “We will request the cooperation of domestic and international sites as well as legal firms to ensure a thorough investigation is conducted by law enforcement agencies.”
