‘Panalo!’: Filipino rapper EZ Mil scores triple record deals with Eminem and Dr. Dre

US-based Filipino rap sensation EZ Mil has signed up with not one but three major record labels of international rap icons Eminem and Dr. Dre — Shady Records, Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records.

The rap artist behind the 2021 viral hit Panalo is the second rapper next to 50 Cent to officially ink a deal with all three music labels.

On Eminem’s Shady Records’ Facebook page, the record company posted a photo of Slim Shady, Dr. Dre, and EZ.

“Still Aftermath! Back at it with Dr. Dre to sign the incredibly talented Ez Mil,” its caption read.

Eminem also posted the photo on his Instagram account with the caption, “Me and Dre back at it… Check @ezekielmiller aka Ez Mil out.”

On his X (formerly Twitter) account, he shared Ez Mil’s song Up Down (Step & Walk), telling his followers it was “why we signed him.”

According to the Shady Records website, Ez’s single Up Down from his album DU4LI7Y drew attention from Eminem fans who recognized the resemblance of both artists’ rhythmic styles and wordplay.

“Powered by lithe, expressive vocals, dexterous raps and songwriting know-how, Ez Mil’s latest level up is the product of talent, hard work and a keen knowledge of his own audience — in this case, that crowd happened to include Slim Shady himself,” Shady Records described Ez’s strengths in rapping.

After a month, Eminem picked up on his song and introduced him to Dr. Dre. Ez drove all the way from Las Vegas to Los Angeles to meet the two rap legends for the very first time.

Eminem said that he’s been hooked to Ez Mil’s music, resulting in them signing him to their record labels.

“We’ve never been out there signing a lot of artists, and one of the great things about how we built Shady is how selective we’ve been,” Eminem said.

“And it’s even rarer that Dre and I sign something together – but I heard Ez’s music and was like, ‘This is really special,’ so I took it to Dre. We both agreed it would be a great fit and we wanted to work with him right on the spot,” he added.

“I’m really only interested in working on shit that sounds different from anything else going on out there, and only then if I feel I can really bring something to it,” Dr. Dre said.

“Em played me Ez and I had that feeling… that thing that happens when we both know we’ve found something special. And that was it… let’s get to work.”

Ez’s forthcoming deluxe edition of his 2022 LP DU4LI7Y: REDUX is set to release on Aug. 11. The project will include his intense new single Realest, which will feature Eminem.
