Andrea Brillantes on moving forward from heartbreak: ‘There’s so much to this world than just one boy’

Kapamilya star Andrea Brillantes bared how she went through “stages of grief” to get over her split with basketball player Ricci Rivero in a recent vlog with Vice Ganda.

In Vice’s newest vlog, the comedian was joined by Andrea, who he referred to in the video as his “Beshie kong Gen Z”, for a casual talk about the lifestyles and nuances of those belonging to Generation Z.

The first half of Vice’s vlog dabbled in discussing what it takes to belong to a young generation, including the positive and negative attitudes of the youth which Andrea explained to Vice who belongs to an older generation.

Vice also challenged the actress to reveal what’s inside her celebrity bag. The host even humored Andrea by taking out her cash and revealing its total amount to their viewers.

She also shared a religious souvenir she got from Spain which prompted Vice to touch on her recent trip to the country.

“Bakit nagpunta ng Spain ang beshie ko?,” Vice named their next topic.

Andrea shared that her trip to Spain was her first-ever solo travel and that it was meant for “soul-searching”.

“Bakit mo gustong ma-experience ‘yon for once, beshie?,” Vice asked.

“Dapat kasi eighteen palang gusto ko nang makapagtravel mag-isa. Pero ‘eto parang naging perfect timing lang siya sa’kin,” Andrea answered, adding that she was already single at the time she flew to the country.

Vice affirmed that Andrea experienced “freedom and independence” during her solo travel and then went on to ask if she was still heartbroken from her split with Ricci at the time.

“Heartbroken pa rin siguro pero hindi ako pumunta doon dahil heartbroken ako,” Andrea stressed her answer.

“Paano ba ‘yon beshie kung si Andrea heartbroken?,” the host asked.

“Madalas po kasi nakaka-move on na ko in three to five business days,” Andrea said, wittily comparing her answer to business terms.

“Ito in fairness sa kanya, nag-one month siya, nag-one month talaga akong nalungkot at tsaka hinayaan ko talagang maging malungkot ako, iyak talaga ako, sa one month na ‘yung parang lahat ng stages of acceptance naranasan ko,” the actress narrated the process on how she got over a recent split.

“Hindi ko nadaanan ‘yung depression, nag-anger, nag-bargaining ako nang matagal, siguro one week akong bargaining, tapos boogsh acceptance agad,” Andrea added.

When asked if she would attempt to get back together with a person she broke up with, the actress answered, “Actually, isang beses lang akong nakikipaghiwalay po kasi hindi po ako napapagod pagdating sa love.”

She stressed that she needed to move forward despite all the love that she gave from her past relationship.

“Ang dami ko [na] po kasi pinagdaanan sa life bakit ako mag-aano sa lalaki lang, there’s so much more to this life than just one boy,” Andrea said.

“Beshie, ayaw mo na sa basketball player?,” the host asked about the possibility of dating another person from a similar world with Ricci.

To which Andrea clarified that she wants to settle on being single for now: “Ayoko na muna sa kahit na sino, kasi malay mo the one for me talaga is matinong baskeball player, pero ngayon po hindi talaga, wala muna.”
