Fans and supporters of Kapamilya actress Janella Salvador aired their frustration online after discovering that she was not included in ABS-CBN’s newly launched Star Magic 30 catalogue.
The Star Magic 30 catalogue is part of the 30th anniversary celebration of the ABS-CBN talent arm Star Magic this year, which was launched at the Blue Leaf Events Pavilion in Taguig City, last Thursday, July 6.
The theme for this year’s catalog is centered on “star power elevation”, according to fashion photographer Dookie Ducay. It focuses on the “artists’ individuality, versatility to showcase the styles and their own personalities as well.”
While others were delighted upon seeing their Kapamilya biases on the front page of the catalogue, some were unhappy with the non-inclusion of their bets, one of which is Kapamilya actress Janelle Salvador.
The Kapamilya star sent the internet abuzz over her cryptic post that seemingly hinted at the talent management.
On Saturday, July 8, Janella posted a short tweet that read, “Ah. K noted,” followed by a star and magic wand emojis. There was no context or explanations that followed the post which led people to speculate that it was a swipe at Star Magic.
Some netizens then called out the Kapamilya talent arm over its exclusion of Janella in the Star Magic 30 catalogue and alleged favoritism for other “biggest, brightest, and rising Kapamilya stars”.
“JANELLA DESERVES BETTER” trended on Twitter as netizens and fans showed support for the ‘cast out’ actress, commending her strengths and achievements as a “multi-talented and versatile” actress.
“Janella Salvador is definitely one of the most talented and loyal Star Magic artists that we have. Naging bida na at kontrabida sa mga teleseryes, a versatile actress, a reliable singer, and a total performer. Here’s her four remarkable roles on TV. JANELLA DESERVES BETTER” a netizen tweeted, along with photos of the actress’ previous projects.
“Janella has already a decade of flourishing career! I’m telling you, don’t sleep on this one! Janella can go Disney if she pursues it knowing she already had worked with them before! Janella Deserves Better. Care to explain @starmagicphils?!,” voiced out another netizen.
One netizen recalled Janella’s powerful performance singing the popular soundtrack of Disney’s Frozen II ‘Into The Unknown’, together with Zephanie and SB19’s Stell.
Fellow Star Magic talent JC Alcantara has also aired out in a cryptic now-deleted tweet on the same day as Janella’s which read: “Naol my favoritism, lagi nalang tayong option.”
Meanwhile, a netizen humored others by creating their ideal centerfold for the catalogue which included Janella on the frontlines.
Janella started her career in the show business back in 2012. She became an official part of Star Magic in 2013.
She had previously starred in projects including Be Careful With My Heart, Oh My G!, Born For You, and So Connected, among others.
Janelle recently played the double role of conglomerate Regina Vanguardia and classic villain, Valentina, in ABS-CBN’s reincarnation of Mars Ravelo’s superhero comic Darna in 2021. She is reportedly working on an upcoming film together with Thai actor Win Metawin.
