It’s Showtime closes gap in ratings vs ‘new’ Eat Bulaga

It’s Showtime has made significant progress in closing the lead against rival Kapuso program Eat Bulaga.

Following the the departure of its original hosts, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon, as well as other “Dabarkads,” and the introduction of their replacements Paolo Contis, Buboy Villar, Betong Sumaya, Alexa Miro, twins Mavy and Cassy Legaspi, It’s Showtime has benefited from their rival’s transition by reducing the gap in ratings.

On Monday, June 5, It’s Showtime achieved a 3.2 percent rating, compared to Eat Bulaga’s 5.2 percent, resulting in a two-percent gap difference.

It is reportedly the “closest” recorded margin It’s Showtime has achieved since the reformat of the longest-running noontime show.

Prior to the issues faced by Eat Bulaga, the Kapuso noontime show usually scored an average of 7.0 to 7.5 percent, while It’s Showtime scored at around an average of 2.5 to 2.8 percent.

Aside from falling viewership, Eat Bulaga has drawn flak from netizens, as many netizens were dissatisfied with the new set of Dabarkads.

Meanwhile, TVJ and other original hosts of Eat Bulaga have found their home in TV5 Network after signing a deal with the MediaQuest Group.

In addition, Former Sen. Tito confirmed that Eat Bulaga will use its title name for their upcoming noontime show.
