IBA SI MA’AM!: Grade 1 teacher goes viral for her ‘energetic’ way of teaching

This grade one teacher from Quezon province went viral on social media after sharing her “unique” way of teaching.

Teacher Jamaica Alba Baclao Magbiray said that she did not expect that her videos would go viral since she just wanted to share her life as a teacher.

“Nagulat ako, pagtingin ko, millions na ‘yung viewers ko and then ayun. Everyday, nag-vivideo na ako pero minamake sure ko ako lang ‘yung kita and not my students to protect their privacy.

Teacher Jamaica said that she got the inspiration from a video she watched on social media and then she tried to applied it to her class.

“As a grade 1 teacher, I make sure sa start pa lang nabubuild ko na kaagad ‘yung routine sa mga bata. So dapat every morning or every day, continues ginagawa nila, paulit-ulit. After namin mag-attendance check, alam na nila yung gagawin which is pagbasa na kaagad,” she shared.

Teacher Jamaica has been teaching for several years now.

Saka gusto ko ‘yung ako ‘yung nagiging part nung progress nila,” she explained.

Her mother and husband, who are also teachers, couldn’t be more proud of her for giving her best despite the low salary and few benefits.

But despite her high energy during class, Teacher Jamaica admitted that sometimes her job takes a toll on her health.

“Sa totoo lang, exhausting siya. Nakakapagod talaga, aminin na natin ‘yun,” she said.

Teacher Jamaica noted with passion and dedication, her love for the profession surpasses every tiring day at school.

Siguro passion, it’s about passion talaga. Kasi kung hindi mo mahal ‘yung trabaho mo, kung you are into money, kung gusto mo talaga malaking kita, possible talaga na umayaw ka sa dahil sa madaming trabaho,” she added.
