A first for his family: Single father turns emotional after daughter graduates from college with Latin honors

This father from Batangas couldn’t help but become emotional upon learning on the day of the ceremony that his daughter was set to graduate as cum laude.

Daughter Rizalyn Cabanig Colipano said that she decided to surprise her father to show her appreciation for his hard work for their family.

During the ceremony last August 8, 2022, her father had no idea about her achievement.

Rizalyn said that she did not expect that her father would be emotional about her milestone. It was also Daddy Rizaldo’s first time attending a college graduation.

After her mother died a few years ago, Daddy Rizaldo worked in Metro Manila as a tricycle driver, while Rizalyn and her other siblings stayed in Batangas.

Rizalyn graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education Major in Home Economics at the Batangas State University. She is currently reviewing for the LET exam next year.
