ABS-CBN reporter goes viral after getting ‘free hug’ from homeless woman

This photo of a reporter getting a free hug from a homeless woman has touched the hearts of netizens.

Izzy Lee, a new reporter of ABS-CBN network, shared a series of snaps while live reporting for DZMM Teleradyo’s Sakto program when the homeless woman entered the frame and suddenly gave her a side hug.

The woman even looked and smiled at the camera while hugging Izzy who noticeably smiled behind her face mask.

“So this happened at work today. A free hug,” wrote Izzy as caption in her social media posts on Thursday.

The photos have since gone viral on social media, with more than 500,000 likes and over 50,000 retweets on Twitter, as of writing.

Netizens, on the other hand, commended the reporter’s pure reaction to the homeless woman’s gesture.

“This is such a class act and more importantly a display of compassion and understanding,” said a Facebook user.

“Makikita sa 1st and 2nd pose nung homeless na napakalungkot nya, sa 3rd pose nya naka hug sya, walang katumbas na saya at ngiti ang makikita sa mukha nya. Nakaramdam sya ng respeto galing sa ibang tao. Maganda na at mabait pa si Izzy Lee,” wrote another.

Another also commented, “Izzy Lee thank you for not pushing her away :’> .Most of the time we are scared, but let us put in our minds, they’ve been in a very terrible situations that doing this somehow makes them loved.”
