This second-year law student from Baguio City could qualify as the best multitasker of the year.
Ronald Carlton Papa Tan said that when he enrolled at the University of Baguio, he noticed that one of his subjects had the same schedule as his wedding day.
“Nakita ko na conflict sa isang subject ko na ‘Appropritate Dispute Resolution’. Important sakin ‘yung subject kasi pwedeng applicable sa married life disputes namin ng magiging asawa ko that time,” Ronald recalled.
“Dumaan sa isip ko humingi ng excuse sa professor since kasal ko naman. Pero inisip ko, law school is part in building the future of my family. Plus naisip ko na this is exactly the advantage of online classes for responsible students,” he added.
Ronald noted that he already informed his professor that their class will be the day of their wedding but he will still attend the class.
He opted to listen to the two-hour lecture during the wedding reception. Ronald kept his mic on mute and his cam turned off so as not to distract his classmates.
“Everytime may part ng wedding na walang activity or wala ako na part, I make sure to listen sa lecture kasi essential ‘yung learning and I can make it work. Kaya at the end of the day when everything worked out and walang nadistract or nacompromise,” Ronald shared.
Ronald had no idea that his sister and friends were filming him while he was listening to the lecture.
“Patago nila ako vinideo. Tawa sila ng tawa lalo na sister ko. Nung nakita ng mga bisita na parang asa class ako and naririnig nila na may naglelecture,” he said.
The uploaded video on social media has already garnered more than 400,000 views.
For the bride’s part, Ronald said his wife Crizante was glad to know that she’s marrying a responsible man, who is focused on their future.
“Sabi ng wife ko, basta ‘wag lang daw ako sumagot ng “present!” Sa altar instead of “I do.” ‘Yun prof ko was cool about it, kasi alam niya na responsible student can learn anywhere he is. And he can appreciate daw the dedication. ’Yung mga classmates ko sabi nila ako daw may kasalanan kaya wala na daw sila reason magabsent sa online class,” Ronald narrated.
This was not the first time that he had juggled school and personal matters at the same time.
Even at home, he made sure to be present in family gatherings while attending online classes.
Ronald and Crizante tied the knot on February 8, 2022 in Tuba, Benguet.
They were in a relationship for 11 years before getting married. They also have two daughters.
