Diether Ocampo was taken to the hospital after the SUV he was traveling in crashed into a parked dump truck along Osmeña Highway in Makati City.
The collision which happened at dawn on Friday caused wreckage to the bumper and hood of Diether’s vehicle, as stated in a report by GMA’s Unang Balita.
The 48-year-old actor was immediately brought to the hospital after sustaining injuries. No other person was hurt in the accident.
A garbage collector who was on duty at the time recounted how Diether collided into the back of the parked dump truck.
“Nagdadakot kami kasi dito, sir, e. Galing ho siya doon, bumubulusok, ‘pag bangga niya diyan nagulat na lang kami. Napatakbo nga kami, kasi akala ko ano’ng nangyari. E, nakita ko na lang na bumangga na siya diyan,” Nilo Villanueva was quoted in the Unang Balita interview.
A barangay peace and security officer, meanwhile, said that Ocampo came from his business associates and was allegedly intoxicated.
An investigation is currently underway while Diether’s camp has yet to release a statement.
