Cherry Pie Picache, Edu Manzano reveal dating 20 years ago

Love is, indeed, sweeter the second time around for Cherry Pie Picache and Edu Manzano. The celebrity couple revealed that they already dated before and just rekindled their romance 20 years later.

In a YouTube vlog interview with Luis Manzano, Edu’s son with former wife Vilma Santos, Cherry Pie and Edu related how they kept their friendship through the years and still had feelings for each other.

“Kasi nagkataon, after the 20 years, lagi kaming nanatiling kaibigan. We never drifted apart. We would always see each other sa iba’t ibang okasyon and sa iba’t ibang mga gatherings, and we would always be talking sincerely,” shared Edu.

“And we knew that we still like each other,” he added.

Cherry Pie, on the other hand, admitted how she would feel “something different” every time they would see each other.

“Pero I would always dismiss it, because your dad has always been a charmer. ‘Di ba, yung karisma niya, iba talaga,” Cherry Pie told Luis.

Cherry Pie and Edu also recalled how they would miss chances of getting back together, having had respective relationships before.

Edu said that he never thought that reuniting and working together in the Kapamilya series Marry You, Marry Me would allow them to give love a second chance.

“You know, the chance na nakapagtrabaho kami muli sa Marry You, Marry Me, wala naman expectations, eh. Tuloy lang ‘yon dun sa aming pagkikita during the past 20 years kung saan-saan.”

Asked about the qualities she liked most about Edu, Cherry Pie told Luis: “If there’s anything about your father, he’s a good man.”

“His intentions, his heart. His world revolves around his children, that’s a given. Pero with people, grabe, ang bait. Lahat, yung concern niya, isipin niya lahat ng tao, huli siya,” she added.

Edu, on the other hand, expressed his admiration for how Cherry Pie would have time for fun and work, and would look after people. “Ganoon lang talaga siya, maasikaso. Gusto lang niya makapagsilbi, makapagpakita ng pagmamahal,” he said.

“Sana, we will not always find it hard to forgive each other, because ‘di ba it will not always be perfect,” Cherry Pie told Edu in the interview.

Luis, who previously worked with Cherry Pie in the ABS-CBN series Kampanerang Kuba, told the actress how “I am very thankful that things fell into place, because now, I consider you family na talaga.”

“I’m seeing my dad, and I can see how happy he is right now and how content and fulfilled he is. I can see it din naman, at the same time, I’m hoping and praying it’s exactly the same for you.”

“In fairness, kinikilig ako sa inyo,” Luis told Edu and Cherry Pie in the vlog.

“Kahit papaano, nakakahinga ako ngayon nang malalim na punong-puno ng saya,” said Edu when asked about the status of his heart.

Cherry Pie, meanwhile considers her relationship with Edu an “answered prayer.”
