Jeyrick Sigmaton, popularly known as Carrot Man, is now an internationally award-winning actor.
The 27-year-old native Igorot from Barlig, Mountain Province took home the Best Actor award at the recently held International Film Festival Manhattan Autumn 2021 in New York, USA for his performance in the short film Dayas.
Dayas, a film written and directed by Jianlin Floresca, revolves around the story of small-scale miners in Itogon, Benguet.
“We’re very thankful to have the best actor award for Jeyrick Sigmaton so in behalf of my actor and the entire cast of Sine Cordillera Dayas, and also in behalf of all Igorots all over the world, bagi tayo daytoy (this is ours),” said Floresca in a video uploaded by Sine Cordillera on YouTube.
“This achievement only proves that our Cordilleran Narratives and Talents are worth sharing for the world to see,” added Sine Cordillera in the video’s description box.
Jeyrick, then a vegetable, farmer became an internet sensation after netizens took notice of his good looks in stolen photos of him carrying a basket of carrots in 2016.
He later earned the moniker Carrot Man, appeared on TV shows, landed endorsement deals and became part of local all-male group FAB4Z.
