Claudine Barretto posted a picture of herself online with former loveteam partner and “first love” Mark Anthony Fernandez on Thursday, June 17.
The photo teased their onscreen reunion — the Joel Lamangan-directed movie Deception — 25 years after they last worked together.
In her Instagram post, Barretto said the shooting was already packed up, and they were on their way back to the hotel.
“Palanggas on our way back to our hotel. Pack up na,” she wrote.
In the film produced by Viva Films and Borracho Entertainment, Claudine plays Rose who is finally released after serving a 10-year imprisonment for killing her husband Jericho, portrayed by Fernandez, and burning their house.
“Ang tagal-tagal ng pinagpaplanuhan ‘yung reunion na ‘to, ngayon lang talaga nangyari,” Claudine said in the virtual press conference last June 10, adding that it is also her way support his best friend lawyer Ferdinand Topacio, head of the Borracho Entertainment.
Mark added that he and Claudine had been wanting a reunion project, but “wala lang kaming script na pinanghahawakan ng mga time na ‘yun.”
“Luckily, eto nakahanap na ng script through direk Joel. So syempre habang pinaghahandaan, talagang todo ensayo at tsaka syempre cross fingers and prayers,” he added.
Mangarap Ka was their last project together released in 1995, before Claudine was paired up with the late Rico Yan.
Claudine and Mark ended their relationship with no closure but somehow remained friends.
Deception is the comeback film of Claudine five years since her last movie Etiquette for Mistresses.
She stepped back from show business to take care of her four kids after splitting up with ex-husband Raymart Santiago.
“When Raymart and I, naghiwalay kami, I felt that I had to step back from show business because kailangan ako ng mga anak ko. I don’t want them to feel na one day, paggising nila, wala na silang nanay, wala na silang tatay. It was a very painful decision but of course, at the end of the day, the priority is still my children,” she said.
