LOOK: ‘Biggest McDo in Asia’ goes all out for BTS and ARMYs

By Ella Marie Mercado

Even McDonalds, with its trademark red-and-yellow theme, draped itself in purple — the signature color of the popular Korean boy group BTS — this Friday, June 18.

The Capital Town in San Fernando, Pampanga, which houses the “biggest” McDonalds in the country and in Asia, finally opened its purple park for ARMYs, the official name of the BTS fandom, to celebrate the arrival of the BTS Meal.

With warm purple lights and decorations, the Town offers the perfect “instagrammable” spots for ARMYs and non-ARMYs alike.

Despite the temptation to visit the store offline, Twitter user bree, an ARMY, also reminded everyone to take care amid the ongoing pandemic in a post that has since gone viral.

The Capital Town also reminds visitors to follow proper health protocol in its pinned status in its Facebook account.

Recently, BTS and the fast-food chain collaborated to release a limited-edition “BTS meal” which includes:

  • a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets
  • medium World Famous Fries
  • medium Coca-Cola
  • Sweet Chili and Cajun dipping sauces inspired from the fast-food chain’s South Korea franchise.

The meal is available in over 600 McDonald’s franchises nationwide, as well as in over 50 countries around the world.

The limited edition meal was first announced last April 19 and was first launched in select countries, including South Korea, Vietnam, and the United States last May 27 (or May 26 in the U.S.).
