Ai-Ai delas Alas shares why she got her COVID-19 jab abroad

Over the weekend, Ai-Ai delas Alas finally got her first jab of a COVID-19 vaccine in the US.

The actress-comedienne admitted that while she was nervous to get the first dose of Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine, but she’s thankful to have finally received the jab.

On Instagram, she shared a photo that indicated that she got the vaccine on May 29.

In a recent virtual interview with the press, she explained that she might as well get vaccinated in the US since she’s already in the country and a Green card or Permanent Resident card holder.

In California, their COVID-19 vaccines are free no matter what the individual’s immigration or citizenship is.

“Kasi dito (Philippines) parang yung para sa amin, ibigay na lang namin dun sa iba na pwede mag-avail kasi kami, ako as Green card holder, libre naman ako doon. So, I-avail ko na yung sa akin,” she explained.

Ai-Ai added that she would rather have someone else receive her spot in the Philippines’ vaccine line.

“Yung akin dito ibibigay ko na sa mas nangangailangan,” she said.

Ai-Ai and her husband Gerald Sibayan flew to Los Angeles, California last Friday.
