Rock community mourns death of Slapshock’s Jamir Garcia

After news broke on Slapshock frontman Vladimir “Jamir” Garcia’s death, the Pinoy rock community took to social media to mourn his passing.

In an initial Quezon City police report, it was stated that he was found lifeless by his aunt at his home in Barangay Sangandaan Thursday morning.  

He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Slapshock’s official Twitter account changed its profile photo to a plain black picture following news of Jamir’s shocking death.

While the band’s Facebook posted a photo of Jamir with lyrics from their song Adios.

Upon hearing the news, the heavy metal rock band’s lead guitarist Lean Ansing asked the public to respect his memory as they grieve the loss of their bandmate. He also updated his profile picture to a black photo.

Slapshock drummer Chi Evora, on the other hand, changed his profile picture to a photo of Jamir.

Former Slapshock member Reynold Munsayac shared that they even planned a project with the late vocalist. 

“Sana ay mahanap mo ang tunay na kapayapaan at tanggapin ka ng Panginoon sa kanyang kaharian,” he said.

Callalily’s Kean Cipriano also expressed his grief online, saying his friend’s memory will always be remembered. 

Other OPM stars Dong Abay, Arnel Pineda, Jugs Jugueta, Raymund Marasigan and Gloc-9 also expressed their grief over Jamir’s death.

Black Eyed Peas member Apl.de.Ap, who produced Slapshock’s international album Night Owls in 2014, dedicated an Instagram post to the late rocker.

On Twitter, Slapshock and Jamir Garcia landed top trending spots on Twitter Philippines with rock fans mourning his death.
