Animals rights advocate Heart Evangelista made a surprise visit to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) Shelter to drop her donations and check out furry friends affected by the Taal Volcano eruption.
PAWS is continuing its rescue operations to evacuate animals that have been left behind by their owners and residents.
Following the sudden phreatic eruption of Taal last Sunday, dogs, cats, horses and cows were not spared and were found covered in thick ash and mud.
In an Instagram post, Heart commended PAWS for bringing the rescued animals, mostly dogs, to safety.
“Heartbreaking yet heartwarming to be able to see these dogs that were rescued from Taal. Thank you @pawsphilippines, for bringing them to safety. ??,” wrote Heart.
She also appealed for donations to help stranded animals in the affected areas.
“There are still so many dogs, cows and other livestock that need our love. For those of you who want to help, the PAWS team will be needing cow feed, chicken feed, dog food, cat food, bottles of water, and pet bowls in order to help our furry friends, “ she added..
Donations may be dropped off or delivered to the PAWS Animal Shelter to be forwarded to Tagaytay.
