Blackpink has announced the postponement of their global livestream concert to a later date due to the increased COVID-19 restrictions in South Korea.

The K-pop girl group’s online concert titled The Show which was originally scheduled December 27, 2020 will be moved to January 31, 2021.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on Wednesday reported a record high 1,078 daily new coronavirus cases in the country.

Members Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé personally made the announcement in a video message released on social media on Thursday.

“We can’t wait to meet our Blinks as soon as possible, but in order to comply with the Korean COVID-19 prevention guidelines and to ensure a safe performance, unfortunately, we have made the decision to postpone ‘The Show’ from December 27th to January 31st next year,” said Jisoo.

Lisa added that they wanted the concert to give fans “some sort of comfort during these difficult times.”

“But the most important thing is the health and safety of everyone taking part in ‘The Show’ so in order to make sure that we prepare for the concert in a safe environment, we have decided to postpone ‘The Show,’” said Rosé.

Meanwhile, Jennie expressed her thanks to all the COVID-19 frontliners “who are working nonstop to give their best efforts at this moment.”

Fans can still purchase tickets through Blackpink’s YouTube Channel.
