Manuel and Gale are just one of the couples whose wedding plans were pushed back by the COVID-19 pandemic. Lucky for them, love always finds its way.
The happy couple was supposed to wed in Roxas City last May 20. However, because of the pandemic and the many restrictions it posed, they were forced to push their date back and settle for a civil wedding.
To make the milestone as special as possible, they sought out restaurants that would accommodate them after their ceremony. While brainstorming in one of their favorite date places, Manuel asked himself, “Why not here?”
On June 16, Manuel and Gale celebrated their monthsary and wedding at a Mcdonald’s branch. It might be unconventional for some but for Manuel and Gale, having the perfect partner is better than a perfect venue.
“The McWedding, I will never be ashamed that we had our wedding ceremony at Mcdonalds, we may not have the perfect venue but I will always have a perfect partner. I’m thankful that you accepted me for who I am and what I have despite of all my flaws, I was never perfect but yet you love me as if I am,” Manuel wrote in a Facebook post.
The newlyweds’ love story began years back when they started dating in college. After almost a year, they parted ways and started seeing other people. After five years, their paths crossed again.
“We then (caught) up and naging friends kami, like real friends na no intention of getting back together. But of course dahil na rin siguro sa tadhana, di na namalayan na nahuhulog na pala ako sa kanya,” Manuel shared with The STAR’s Latestchika.com.
Their “ligaw” stage was just as good! Gale gave him her sweet yes in their favorite donut shop. Indeed, they are living proof that love is sweeter the second time around.
Of course, their proposal was just as noteworthy as all their milestones as a couple. Manuel unexpectedly proposed during this year’s Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo with the help of OPM singer Moira Dela Torre.
“I want everyone to know how much I love you. I can’t imagine my life without you, Gale. We’ve been together for almost five years, Gale Nexee Apa-ap, will you marry me?” he asked on stage.
Now that they have finally tied the knot, the couple shared that they are proud of themselves for not letting COVID-19 stop them from uniting.
Congratulations on your McWedding, Mr. and Mrs. Luna!
