We stan this supportive daddy!
Actor Ian Veneracion is nothing but supportive when his daughter Deirdre or “Dids” admitted she liked girls. She was 16 years old when the confession took place.
“Dumating siya medyo teary-eyed tapos sabi niya, ‘Daddy, I’ll tell you something’ sabi ko ‘What? Sit down’ tapos sabi niya ‘I like girls.’ Sabi ko ‘Me also, I like girls,’” he recounted on the morning talk show Magandang Buhay.
He continued on to share that he reminded his daughter to never be apologetic about who she is, especially to her father.
“Just don’t ever be apologetic about it, not even to me. Sabi ko, ‘you can be whoever you want to be and I have full support,’” he said.
Dids admitted she had a hard time telling anyone about her sexual orientation but since she is very close to her father, she decided to open up to him first.
“Nakakapanghinayang lang. Isa lang ang buhay natin tapos parang apologetic ka pa, nahihiya ka sa sarili mo di mo mailabas pagkatao mo. Parang what a waste of life,” Ian shared.
His wife Pam is also supportive of her daughter’s orientation. According to Ian, his wife said as long as Dids is happy, she’s happy as well.
“She (Dids) has the whole support of the family,” he ended.
