Anne Curtis mourns death of acclaimed filmmaker Peque Gallaga

After news of veteran filmmaker Peque Gallaga’s death broke out on Thursday, Kapamilya star Anne Curtis took to Instagram to express her condolences to the family of the director responsible for her first big movie break.

The actress’ post read: “I will forever be grateful to him and Direk Lore (Reyes) for choosing me to be their Princess Dahlia in Magic Kingdom. It breaks my heart knowing that he won’t get to meet my own little Dahlia. Direk Peque, thank you for giving me a role that would change my life forever. I will miss you and will treasure the memories and lessons you taught me in the craft of acting. Rest In Peace. I love you. My deepest condolences to the Gallaga Family.”

Anne’s big break in the showbiz industry was her role as Princess Dahlia in Gallaga’s 1997 hit fantasy film Magic Kingdom: Ang Alamat ng Damortis.

The Negrense director passed away due to health complications on Thursday, May 7. He was 76.

Citing a statement from Gallaga’s manager June Rufino, STAR’s Ricky Lo reported that Gallaga was brought last April 30 to the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City, where he has been living in semi-retirement, due to water in his lungs.
